Description
In 1970s Italy, acetate and plexiglass work reached a rare level of mastery. Milanese and Florentine workshops were experimenting with new transparent volumes, somewhere between utilitarian objects and domestic sculptures. Made around 1975, this large box combines an amber-brown acetate base with a thick, hand-polished plexiglass lid. The sharp edges and translucency of the material reflect the quality of its construction, typical of Italian design production of this period. The condition is excellent. Light signs of use, with no notable alteration of the polish or transparency. The acetate has irregular graining, typical of the original material, which enhances its visual interest.
