Description
In 1980s Italy, decorative ceramics broke free from strict forms to explore expressive volumes, often inspired by textiles and movement. This so-called « draped » vase clearly fits into this formal exploration, where the material appears to have been shaped by hand rather than by tool. Made in Italy around the 1980s, this large vase is crafted from glazed ceramic with a satin finish. Its body has a deliberately irregular silhouette, punctuated by horizontal folds reminiscent of thick fabric rolled up on itself. The slightly asymmetrical opening enhances the overall sculptural quality. An unsigned piece, typical of Italian workshops of this period, straddling postmodernism and traditional craftsmanship. The condition is very good. The enamel is homogeneous, with slight superficial traces related to use, without chips or cracks.
