Description
In 1970s Italy, domestic design adopted clean lines and contrasting materials. Polished metal interacted with leather in a functional and sophisticated style. This Italian valet tray, circa 1970, combines a chrome-plated metal tray with a black leather-covered rim. The craftsmanship is precise: a slightly concave surface, a raised center, and meticulous finishing. The manufacturer is unknown, but the quality of execution and the design are reminiscent of Milanese production of the period, which was attentive to detail and everyday use.
The piece comes from a collector in Milan. It is in very good overall condition. The chrome shows minor signs of wear consistent with its age. The leather is well-preserved, supple, with a subtle and even patina. Its proportions — 25 cm long, 20 cm wide and 3.5 cm high — make it a practical and elegant object. Place it on a console, desk or coffee table to discreetly hold keys, cards or a watch.
