Description
In 1960s Italy, woodworking experienced a resurgence of formal rigor, at the crossroads of craftsmanship and domestic design. This box embodies this tradition: harmonious proportions, clean lines, and unapologetic functionality. Crafted from finely lacquered wood, it features a hinged lid with a brass handle, a discreet detail that nonetheless reveals meticulous craftsmanship. The interior is left natural, contrasting with the darker, satin-finished exterior. The designer and manufacturer are undocumented, as is often the case with these objects produced in small series or by independent workshops in Italy during the 1960s.
The condition is very good. A few light marks attest to its age and use, without detracting from the object’s appearance. The patina is even and consistent. Originating from the personal collection of an Italian collector, this box lends itself naturally to the storage of precious objects, jewelry or chosen papers, with a discreet and elegant presence.
