Description
In 1960s Italy, the use of elm veneers reflected a quest for understated elegance. Workshops favored simple forms, enhanced by the natural grain of the wood. This Italian box in light brown elm, circa 1960, features a carefully selected burl veneer. The flush lid is highlighted by a darker border. Solid wood interior, discreet metal hinges. Handcrafted, precise assembly, balanced proportions. Good overall condition. The veneer retains a beautiful uniformity of color. Minor signs of wear consistent with age, without any missing pieces or lifting.
The corners are sharp, the structure sound. Its dimensions — 19.5 cm long, 11 cm wide and 6 cm high — offer a versatile format, easy to integrate. Use it as a jewelry box, for office accessories, or on an entryway console. A simple piece, suitable for a modernist or more classic interior.
