Description
Around 1970, Murano glassworks explored free forms and bold colors, driven by exceptional technical mastery. This large ashtray is a prime example of this period, where glass became as much a sculpted material as a functional object. Made in Murano around the 1970s, this piece is blown and then hot-molded from solid glass, combining deep blue and neon green tones, fused into a perfectly transparent mass. The layering of colors and the controlled distortions demonstrate a demanding glassmaking skill, typical of Murano productions of that decade.
No visible markings, but an unambiguous execution. The condition is very good. The glass is clear and bright, without chips or cracks. Slight surface marks, normal for an object of this period, can be observed.
