Description
In 1960s Italy, elm burl became popular in decorative objects for the quality of its grain and the precision of its symmetrical veneers, often combined with discreet metal elements. Italian rectangular box, circa 1960. Wooden structure, carefully matched elm burl veneer, glossy varnish. Lid adorned with a central silver medallion, serving as a handle. Precise carpentry work, integrated hinges. The lid can be positioned in both directions, offering a different interpretation of the piece and allowing for a more graphic presentation. Very good overall condition. Slight micro-scratches from use visible on the varnish. Beautiful silver patina, unpolished, retaining its original appearance. Clean interior.
