Description
1930s-40s, a period when office and ceremonial objects adopted more geometric lines, influenced by Art Deco. This rectangular box is part of this search for a balance between functionality and decorative sobriety.
Unattributed edition. Silver-plated metal structure, probably steel or plated brass, with a wooden interior. Meticulous craftsmanship, precise assembly, continuous hinge. The decoration features a slight relief on the border, typical of European productions from this period.
Good overall condition. The interior wood is intact. The metal has an even patina, consistent with its age, which remains aesthetically pleasing. Some visible signs of use. Presence of a small shim under the base, in keeping with the original finishes.
Dimensions: height 3 cm, width 10 cm, length 20.5 cm.
Can be used as a cigarette box, desk box, or decorative object on a console or desk.
