Description
The Hogshead Pendant Light takes its name from the sturdy barrels once used to store ale and wine in old taverns and cellars.The light features a hand crafted steel frame, bent, shaped and welded to create its distinctive organic, wavy lines. Momigami paper, made for its durability and texture, is carefully stretched across the frame, including the underside, to fully conceal the bulb and diffuse the light.
Bark from naturally fallen ancient oaks is used to make the dyed paper, but with the addition of iron, the chemistry shifts, the warm tan transforms into a rich taupey grey. This alchemical process has been used for centuries, now used for this pendant light.
Each lamp is handmade, with no two being exactly alike. Subtle variations in symmetry and form are part of its unique character.
