Elegant wooden sculpture, hand-carved in 1964. This contemplative figure could possibly be a modernist interpretation of Madonna, with its elegant elongated form and meditative posture. The warm-toned wood has developed a beautiful patina over the decades that have passed. The rough contours and minimalist detailing reflect the beauty of Scandinavian Folk Art. Quite small in size, making it a perfect accent piece for a shelf or small display area. Signed by an unknown artist and dated (’64) on the base.
