Description
France, c. 1930–1950 in the Aubusson tradition.
A four-fold screen with a softly scalloped cresting, composed of tapestry panels woven with a pastoral “verdure” landscape. The panels have faded from the original vivid colours to the lovely subtle almost sepia palette. The lower panels are plain hessian. The panels are hand-tacked with metal dome capped fixings.
W- 129cm H-176cm
The screen remains in good functional condition. The panels have faded quite evenly, the colour looks almost intentional. The tapestry work is intact. The back has lost some of its protective paper screening revealing the original colours used.
