Description
In the 1970s, the brutalist aesthetic also became prominent in the decorative arts, championed by a few designers capable of combining raw materials and clean lines. This metal and brass box by David Marshall perfectly illustrates this quest for balance.
Made in Spain, it showcases the designer’s characteristic handcraftsmanship: the assembly of contrasting metals, irregular profiles, and clean lines. The mix of polished aluminum and patinated brass creates a restrained dialogue, typical of Marshall’s work during this decade.
The offered example is in very good overall condition. The brass has a natural patina, even and consistent with its age. The metal surfaces show slight signs of wear, discreet and in keeping with an authentic vintage piece.
It measures 12 cm in length, 8 cm in width and 6 cm in height, a compact format that allows it to easily fit into a desk arrangement or on a console.
Ideal for storing small items, jewelry or keys, it also functions as a freestanding sculptural piece, bringing a touch of brutalist design to any interior.
