Description
A solid brass decorative object in the form of a rose in full bloom, the open flower forming a cup above a sinuous stem with a small bud and coiling tendrils. The base resolves into a pair of naturalistic leaves with finely engraved veining. Cast and chased with evident care, the piece carries the hallmarks of quality French Art Nouveau foundry work from around 1900. The brass has developed a warm, uneven patina with traces of verdigris in the recesses, consistent with age.
