Description
A one-of-a-kind metal candlestick from c. 1970s Poland, crafted in the form of an Aspid – the serpentine, dragon-like creature of Slavic tradition, long associated with protection, ancestral honour, and the duality of life.
Made from mixed metals with a rich natural patina of warm copper tones and deeper green/brown-brass hues. The piece sits stably on a circular base, holds a standard candle, and is beautifully proportioned throughout. Well preserved and clearly the work of a skilled artisan.
A rare and unique piece of folk art.
