Description
A beautifully timeworn Japanese bronze vase from the Edo period (1603–1868), distinguished by its quiet presence and deeply aged patina. The form is restrained yet purposeful, with a gently rounded body rising from a stable, subtly flared base, lending the piece both weight and composure.
Cast in heavy bronze, the surface bears the marks of time, with small dents and variations that speak to years of handling and use. Originally intended for floral offerings, likely within a temple setting, the vase reflects an aesthetic rooted in simplicity and contemplation, where form and material are allowed to speak without ornament.
The patina, developed over centuries, carries a remarkable depth, shifting softly between warm and darkened tones, and giving the piece a sense of quiet permanence.
Please use a vessel inside the vase to prevent leaking, as the foot of the vase is not guaranteed to be watertight.
