50’s Brass Ashtray with Enameled Patterns

In the 1950s, many tableware and smoking accessories adopted a more graphic decorative vocabulary, blending decorative craftsmanship and domestic modernism. This brass ashtray with enameled motifs is a good example, with its geometric brown and ivory decoration that structures the form without making it heavy.

Probably European work from the 1950s, this model combines a brass base with an enameled decoration applied in reserves, with four integrated cigarette rests. The whole presents a very balanced composition, halfway between a utilitarian object and a decorative table piece.

The condition is good and consistent with the era. The brass shows a visible patina on the reverse and some light traces of use. The enameled cup also shows small marks of time, without detracting from the overall appearance of the piece, which remains very decorative.

Its dimensions — 13 cm in width by 2 cm in height — make it an easy size to place on a coffee table, a desk, or a shelf.

An elegant piece to integrate into a 50s interior, or to subtly repurpose as a collector’s trinket tray.
