Description
A characterful original Flemish verdure tapestry dating from around 1780–1830, in the much sought after blues and greens. It depicts a tranquil woodland landscape with rich foliage, soft golden light, and a classical seated figure beside a stream. Woven in the traditional Belgian manner, it retains its original floral border and the deep, natural tones typical of late-18th-century vegetable dyes.

This tapestry shows scattered areas of wear and tear and rudimentary historical mends but remains an impressive piece and retains much of its rich palette.
