Description
An iconic piece of post-war Italian design, this standing ashtray illustrates the rigor and functional elegance of the Milanese workshops of the 1960s. Its balance between chrome-plated metal and wood reveals an attention to detail typical of this period, when everyday objects became true elements of interior architecture. Probably produced in Milan around 1965, it combines a central tube of polished chrome metal with a base and upper rim of turned wood. The whole, sober and precise, reflects the modernist taste for noble materials worked without superfluous ornamentation. Good overall condition. The chrome has a slight, even patina, reflecting moderate use and the quality of the original surface treatment.
