Description
Created in 1965, the Serpente is one of Elio Martinelli’s most refined works for Martinelli Luce. It exemplifies the Italian search for sculptural yet functional forms during the late 1960s. The hemispherical shade and curved stem define a clear, balanced geometry that became emblematic of the period. This model, produced in the 1970s, features a white lacquered metal base and arm, with a methacrylate diffuser. The swivel mechanism allows controlled rotation of the shade, an innovative solution at the time. The lamp remains in good vintage condition. The lacquer presents only minor traces of age, consistent with careful use, while the diffuser has preserved its original gloss and translucency.
