Description
In the 1960s, Flavio Poli explored new ways of working with sommerso glass for Seguso, playing with the layering of colors to create fluid volumes. This « Vague » ashtray perfectly illustrates this research, with a mass of red glass immersed in a bath of yellow and then light blue, revealed by finely cut, thick walls.
Made in Murano, it combines traditional glassblowing techniques with meticulous cold shaping that accentuates the chromatic transitions. The piece is attributed to Flavio Poli, a major figure in post-war Venetian glassmaking.
The condition is very good, with some minor signs of wear consistent with a 1960s item and respecting the quality of the glass. Its dimensions—15 cm long, 9.5 cm wide, and 6.5 cm high—make it compact, pleasant to handle, and easy to integrate into a display.
Ideal for a desk, console, or tray, it works equally well as an ashtray or a small, sculptural catchall. A beautiful introduction to Seguso’s colorful world.
