Description
This striking modernist sculpture captures an intimate moment between a reclining adult figure and child, masterfully rendered in unglazed terracotta. Created in 1955 by Swedish artist Bengt Amundin (1915-2011), the piece perfectly exemplifies his characteristic style of rhythmic compositions and rounded forms. Having studied at both the School of Arts and Crafts in Gothenburg and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm, Amundin’s mastery of sculptural volume is beautifully expressed in this work. A remarkable example of Swedish modernist sculpture that would elevate any sophisticated interior. Signed and dated by the artist.
